"Jesus answered them: Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast."
Let us take these words not literally and consider the fast in a more spiritual way as a something what make us stay present before the God. If the Lord is close to us, all our thoughts and desires are pointed at him, there is no other thing we need to look for or even refrain from. Everything becomes a pure presence.
