"For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."
A spoken word contains sound that is always powerful even has been spoken quietly. The sound of God's word made Mary bear His son. We do not really know what our words can do to other people, but we can be sure that words of praising prayer make God himself move.

"The next day as they were leaving Bethany he was hungry. Seeing from a distance a fig tree in leaf, he went over to see if he could find anything on it. When he reached it he found nothing but leaves; it was not the time for figs. And he said to it in reply, "May no one ever eat of your fruit again!" And his disciples heard it."
Jesus is hungry and needs our fruits even there is no season for them. This strong rebuke "May no one ever eat of your fruit again" was heard by the disciples, who usually seem to not listen to Jesus and not comprehend him, reminds us that there is no part-time job in the Jesus'company.

"When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about him?"Jesus said to him, "What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours? You follow me."
We always want to take care of those who we love. Like a good mother that wants all her children succeed. But we presume that a different attitude shows Peter here asking Jesus about John's future. I am settled and happy, I was promised to be a shepherd of the Church, but what about others like John with whom I witnessed the empty tomb and he believed the first. By chance, wouldn't they be more fortunate then me? We need to follow Him without turning back otherwise we turn in a pillar of salt like Lot's wife.

"I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth."
In this beautiful prayer Jesus asks his Father to keep us from evil. But he doesn't want to take us away from this world overshadowed by the evil one. No, he wants us to stay here. The only thing he gives us for protection is the consecration in the truth that is his word. If we accept Jesus as the only Word of God, we will proclaim him, we will become his extended arms to witness the truth in this world.

" Then he led them (out) as far as Bethany, raised his hands, and blessed them.As he blessed them he parted from them and was taken up to heaven. They did him homage and then returned to Jerusalem with great joy,and they were continually in the temple praising God."
Usually when we say goodbye to someone it makes us feel sad and lonely, of course if this is not someone we don't like and want him to leave. The apostles returned to the temple with great joy praising God. They experienced a different way of Jesus' presence - the presence of the resurrected one. This kind of presence breaks down the difference between heaven and earth.

"A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me. So some of his disciples said to one another, What does this mean that he is saying to us, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'? So they said, "What is this 'little while' (of which he speaks)? We do not know what he means. Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, Are you discussing with one another what I said, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me'? Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy."
Jesus is the Lord of time, it means that He achieved perfect presence and there is no 'between moments' in which we need to wait for Him. We see Him in our struggles, problems and failures and He gives us consolation.

| " When the Paraclete comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, he will be my witness. And you too will be witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning" The Holy Spirit has been sent to testify (gr. martyreō) about the Father and we also are encouraged to be testimonies (the same greek word martyreō). The Holy Spirit comes from Father and we are His creatures from the beginning. There is no other work for us but being witnesses of the Lord, and the Spirit will guide us. |
