“While he was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.”
They were walking together enjoying the amicable conversation that they had with Jesus. They were fully immersed in being on road, going to Jerusalem, listening to Jesus. None of them thought about the law of not picking food on Sabbath. Even if they did, nobody would care of it, because the Lord was with them.
