“A centurion there had a slave who was ill and about to die, and he was valuable to him. When he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and save the life of his slave.”
The roman official makes the Jewish elders come to Jesus and ask for healing his serve. It seems to be a very weird company to be chosen for this job. There are the same Jewish elders, who in every moment try to trap Jesus with any blasphemy what would let them sentence him to death.
